A good week!!

So the journey home on Tuesday was quite hard, due to a wind issue, and that wasn't from my backside either!! But I really wanted to get home in under an hour, so that meant averaging 17 mph? I thought I could manage this ok and I felt I was going at a great pace. When I stopped the watch at my door and looked at the time.....it said 1 hour and 57 seconds!!!!!! Gutted. But hey that is the goal next time I come to work.

Then last week the story was published in the 'Eastern Daily Press' and in the 'Beccles & Bungay Journal'.

Things are also looking fantastic with the support from the Norwich MS Society for our stands in the Castle Mall and The Forum in Norwich.Plus Chapelfield shopping centre have expressed an interest in a stand going up in there too.
I had a long chat with Julian who is in the chair of the Norwich MS Society, and he is inspirational. He rowed the Atlantic for the MS Society!!! So I am not quite that mad yet!!

Through my good friend Nick Barrett speaking to Dean Ashton, it also looks like Dean may come to help out with publicity in the Castle Mall subject to other commitments, which will be fantastic ......especially as the stand will be outside the Canary Store!!!!

So much has been happening this last week and I feel the momentum is building nicely. The annoying stumbling block at the moment is this Public Liability Insurance for the charity stands which I need to sort.

I had a good ride on Thursday and Saturday last week, and so got some more hours under my belt on the saddle so to speak!!
I have been reading the Mark Cavendish autobiography and there is a good bit of advice from someone in there that spoke to Mark about training, they said "whatever and however you do your training make sure it is 16 hours per week".....that is a fantastic way of focusing and I intend to utilise this to the max and to help my efforts.
Bye for now.

New training drive

So I have the new bike, and managed to take it for a spin on Sunday after a boys night out on Saturday.....(not the best training practice!! Beer, a curry and late night!!!), Up and out at 7.15am and managed to get 28 miles done. Enjoyed the bike but a little niggle with the gears changing on their own.....deja vous! or should that be mange tout!! in the words of Del Boy.

Monday, and woke up with aching calf muscles but that is because I am not use to my feet being in the correct positions like they are now with the clips on the pedals. Then played football for and hour last night .....which was a good run around, shame we lost!

Tuesday, and cycled to work to how much quicker it was, managed the trip in in a couple of minutes over and hour, so want to try and get that under an hour! The trip is 17 miles so not a bad time but could have pushed harder if the gears had been set up so not slipping. We'll see what the trip home brings?!

Its arrived!!!!! its a Bike!!

The new Specialized Allez Sport Road Bike has arrived and I can't wait to ride it!!! But unfortunately I will have to wait a little longer to finish work.

Oh .....also my mum and dad have arrived too!!! with my bike which was kindly collected from Stoke, by Tom (nephew) and Ray (brother). My mum and dad have brought it down from Sandbach so I can get some rides in!!!

The Polar watch and additional parts has been serviced, so nearly ready to go!! How exciting!!

In the last week I have only managed a couple of rides and the football on Monday night, but hoping to come to work on my new bike on Friday to give it a proper spin!! It is just like Christmas!!

Windy, Dark and quite cold

It was a shock this morning and would have been so easy to turn over and go back to sleep......but my boys made sure that was not possible and so it was cycling gear on and out on the bike. Managed an hour before having to get back for work.
At least I have managed to get out this week and get some training done, which is a vast improvement on last week!!
